Dr. Cummings was born in Franklin, Indiana and has had a lifetime attachment with Jackson County. His parents and grandparents were born and raised on the family farm west of Seymour where he and his wife, Barbara, live. Dr. Cummings’ goal as a child was to become a dentist in this community and raise his family on that same farm.
Dr. Cummings graduated from Butler University and Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1984. He opened the practice, now known as Jackson County Dental, in Seymour, Indiana in July, 1984. He is a member of the Seattle Study Club and International Team for Implantology Study Club, involved with his church and other community activities.
Dr. Cummings and Barbara were married in 1983 and have two grown daughters, Amanda and Jill. Both are married and in total have 4 children. He enjoys providing the highest quality dental care available and the friendly relationships that he has with his patients. When outside of the office, he spends his time camping, hunting, farming and working on old John Deere tractors.
Dr. Pierce was born in Anderson and raised in New Palestine, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with a degree in Biology and Indiana University School of Dentistry. He is a member of the International Team for Implantology Study Club. Dr. Pierce enjoys the challenges of dentistry as well as the opportunity to work with patients on a personal level. He is eager to welcome new patients to the practice.
When not in the office, Dr. Pierce enjoys traveling, working out, sporting events, movies and spending time with friends and family as well as being involved in community events.
Barb Cummings– Office Coordinator
Barb has been a part of the dental office with Dr. Cummings since the first day in 1984. She takes part in most all aspects of the office by giving direction and assistance when and where needed. She utilizes her education from Business College to maintain the financial aspects of the business as well as working with the clerical staff in all of their duties. Barb has also completed the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant School which allows her the ability to work chairside with the other assistants and Dr. Cummings. She, also, has earned her radiology certification.
Kim – Office Assistant/Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Kim is a very versatile team member who is able to work in various areas throughout the office. She graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry Dental Assisting Program in 1989 and keeps her radiology certification current. She has since earned her certificate qualifying her as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. In addition to assisting Dr. Cummings with patient treatment, she maintains the dental hygiene schedule and various other clerical duties. She joined the Jackson County Dental team in June 2007. Kim is the mother of two children that she enjoys watching at their various sporting, school and church events.
Danielle Hoff - Scheduling Coordinator
Danielle joined Jackson County Dental in August of 2013 as Scheduling Coordinator. This is her first experience working in the dental field. She enjoys talking with the patients and strives to make their dental visit the best that it can be. She has an Associate’s Degree in Human Services and has spent many years in customer service. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, walking her dog and spending time with her family and friends.
Tammy – Financial Coordinator
Tammy has many years in the financial aspect of dentistry. This experience allows her to caringly discuss the treatment needed and the best financial option to meet your specific needs. She can also help you to maximize your insurance benefits. Tammy has been with Jackson County Dental since September 1999. She and her husband have a son and they spend their time together camping and boating.
Niki - Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Niki is an experienced Dental Assistant since 1993, is certified to take x-rays and has worked with Dr. Cummings since July 1999. She has received her certificate in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting from IU School of Dentistry. Niki takes pride in doing her best to provide quality dental care for each dental patient. She is married with one son. They enjoy the summer months when they camp and spend time on their boat.
Haley – Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Haley graduated from International Business College in 2011 with an Associates Degree in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting and began her work with Jackson County Dental in January 2012. She enjoys the artistic side of dentistry by utilizing her skills to place fillings, among many other tasks that the Expanded Certificate allows a dental assistant to perform. Haley is an only child and was raised and continues to live in Scott County. She enjoys riding four wheelers, dirt bikes, hunting and being with her family.
Holly – Dental Hygienist
Holly joined Jackson County Dental upon graduating from Indiana University School of Dentistry Hygiene Program in 2006. She enjoys working with her patients and helping them stay on the course for good dental health. Holly is a native of Jackson County and is married with one son. When not spending time with her family and friends, Holly enjoys working out and reading.
Sheila – Dental Hygienist
Sheila has experience in the dental field since 1984. She joined Dr. Cummings’ team in September 2007. After many years as a scheduling coordinator and assistant, she returned to IU School of Dentistry where she graduated in 2004 from the Dental Hygiene School. Sheila has a passion for educating her patients and providing the best care possible so they can have great dental health. Sheila is married and has three children. She enjoys shopping, reading and attending sporting events.
Debbie – Dental Hygienist
Debbie joined the Jackson County Dental team in April 2000. She graduated from the University of Louisville Dental Hygiene Program in 1998. Debbie’s priority to the patients is to build a relationship with each one so she may communicate to them the importance of good dental care. Debbie was born and raised in Scott County and is married with two children. Her family enjoys camping, boating and is active in 4-H.
